A new technique for separation of toluene /air with aqueous solution of n-formyl morpholine (NFM) by hollow fiber PDVF membrane contactor was evaluated, where hollow fiber PDVF membrane as contactor and aqueous solution of n-formyl morpholine (NFM) as absorbent. During the experiment, the effects of inlet concentration, empty bed residence time (EBRT), absorbent concentration and spray flow rate on the removal efficiency were investigated. The results showed that membrane absorption technology can separate toluene from air effectively and the toluene removal efficiency achieved more than 90%. In addition, toluene removal efficiency (η) and the overall coefficient of mass transfer (K) increased with increasing NFM absorbent concentration or spray flow rate. With increasing EBRT, η decreased, whereas K increased. When inlet concentration of toluene increased, η and K decreased. |
